Terms and Conditions for the Hackathon

1. Eligibility: 1.1. Participants must be aged 18-25 and must apply through the official website (www.vhaswavuwani.com). 1.2. Participants must be residents of South Africa and available to fully participate in all activities of the hackathon. 1.3. Teams will consist of 5 members each, selected and assigned by the hackathon organizers based on the application process.

2. Participation: 2.1. Participation in the hackathon is free of charge. 2.2. Participants must adhere to the program schedule and complete all assigned tasks and activities. 2.3. All ideas and projects developed during the hackathon must comply with legal and ethical standards.

3. Intellectual Property: 3.1. Participants retain ownership of their ideas and projects created during the hackathon. 3.2. By participating, participants grant the hackathon organizers a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to showcase their projects for marketing and reporting purposes.

4. Cash Prize: 4.1. A cash prize of R5,000 will be awarded to the winning team on the award day. 4.2. The winning team members will decide how to split the cash prize among themselves based on individual contributions during the period of the hackathon. 4.3. The cash prize will be transferred by the Hackathon organizers to individual accounts within 2 weeks.

5. Business Support: 5.1. Members of the winning team(s) are eligible for up to R15,000 in business support, starting from mid-February 2025. 5.2. Business support may include mentorship, access to resources, and funding for project development. 5.3. The exact nature and scope of business support will be determined by the organizers in consultation with the winning team members.

6. Disqualification: 6.1. Participants who fail to adhere to the hackathon schedule or rules may be disqualified at the discretion of the organizers. 6.2. Any instances of plagiarism, cheating, or unethical behavior will result in immediate disqualification.

7. Liability: 7.1. The hackathon organizers are not liable for any losses, damages, or injuries incurred by participants during the event. 7.2. Participants agree to indemnify and hold harmless the organizers from any claims arising out of their participation.

8. Amendments: 8.1. The organizers reserve the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time. Participants will be notified of any changes.

9. Agreement to Terms: 9.1. By participating in the hackathon, participants agree to these terms and conditions in full.
